Natasha, Wife of award winning International singer, Innocent Idibia, popular as 2Baba, has been named as the Minority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly.
The Edo State Lawmaker, representing
Osawaru, Egor Constituency, assumed the position during plenary on Monday following a reshuffle of the Assembly’s principal leadership triggered by the emergence of Yekini Idaiye as the new Speaker of the Assembly.
Her appointment comes after she defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the National Democratic Congress, NDC, in May 2026.
The Lawmaker took to her Facebook page, to describe the new position as a responsibility to the people rather than simply a political title.
She wrote, “This new responsibility is not a title; it is a trust”.
She further stressed the importance of debate, accountability and standing up for ordinary citizens.
Her emergence as Minority Leader gives her a prominent role in the Edo legislature and further raises her profile in Nigerian politics.
Her elevation comes in the midst of alleged marital crisis with the ‘African Queen’, crooner, with speculation rife that the marriage has hit the rock.
None of the parties has commented on this development, as some allege domestic violence in the less than 12 months old marriage.
