Dahiru Garba, 87 years old, has been remanded in Yola Correctional Centre, Adamawa State for, allegedly cutting off the hand of a Judge in a Court at Fufore Local Government Area, Adamawa State.
The octogenarian who lives in Korawa Village was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Court I, Yola, over the alleged attack on the Presiding Judge of Mayo-Ine Area Court, Fufore LGA.
According to the
Adamawa State Police Command, the incident occurred on August 31, 2026, while the Judge, Hon. Dauda Hamman, was presiding over a case involving Garba and one Ismail Yusuf.
The Police disclosed that Garba allegedly attacked the Judge with a cůtlass, repeatedly striking his hand and causing grievous injuries.
Following this development, he was
arrested and later arraigned on a one-count charge of causing grievous crime, contrary to Section 219 of the Penal Code Law of Adamawa State, 2018.
Garba pleaded guilty and blamed the devil for his action when the charge was read and interpreted to him.
The defendant further expressed regret over the incident. But the Court ordered his immediate remand at the Yola Correctional Facility pending further hearing.
CP Kabir Umar Hassan, Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, assured the public that the matter would be diligently prosecuted to ensure justice is served.
