Katsina To Revamp Multi Billion Naira Songhai Farms  To Lure Youths Out of Criminal Enterprise

In a bid to meaningfully engage the youths who  are more vulnerable to the manipulation of criminal elements ,and to rijig the economic growth and development of Katsina, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, has announced plans to resuscitate the two multi billion Naira Songhai Farms in the State.

The two Songhai farms were conceived and established about ten years ago ,by the administration of Governor, Ibrahim Shema to propel the agricultural fortunes of the state,” as I speak with you today ,the project in a very sorry state,”  Governor Radda  lamented

In a press statement issued on Saturday January 27 2024 , by spokesperson, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the Governor who spoke during a visit to the popular Songhai Farms Cotonou ,the Republic of Benin ,noted that the only way the teeming youths can benefit from the investment is to urgently revive it .

” A lot of  tax payers money were used to establish the farming centers . And it was conceived in such a way that it can be useful ,in terms of developing the economic fortunes of Katsina state in particular and Nigeria in general .

But, regrettably, the two Songhai farms are totally dilapidated,as they have not been put to full use for the benefit of our teeming youths.

My administration is desirous to change the narrative of the farms,and use them to engage our people and grow the economic fortunes of Katsina . Reason we have come back to base” Governor Radda stated.

Governor Radda, therefore, solicited the support and assistance of the Management of Songhai Farms Cotonou in the  task of breathing life into the Katsina Songhai Farm project.

“We want to copy the concept here .This is because ,it was here that about 60 of our students were trained back then. As we are here now ,we have seen  how things are working . We intend to replicate what we have learned here ,at our Songhai Farms in Katsina state Nigeria, particularly the management   structure,so as to ensure an effective management of the farms. We want you to advise and assist us.” Governor Radda noted

Founder of Songhai Farms Cotonou, Father ,Godfrey Nzamujo, while appreciating  Governor Radda and his officials for their insight in seeking ways to put into good use the Farms in the state ,assured of his readiness to assist in their vision to revamp them.
