Islamic leaders in the country, under the aegis of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs have bemoaned President Muhammdu Buhari’s strategy in fighting insecurity.
The federal government has failed to rein in arm gangs in the country who terrorise Nigerians, the group said in its outburt.
NSCIA is chaired by the Sultan of Sokoto, his Eminence, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar.
The group has joined others in the country calling on the president to overhaul the secuirty arms in the country for better performance.

The NSCIA has now urged President Buhari to declare a state of emergency to tackle insecurity, especially kidnapping, terrorism, armed robbery and banditry in the country, the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN said.
Director, Administration of NSCIA, Mr Yusuf Nwoha, made the call while speaking at a news conference on the state of the nation in Abuja.
Nwoha said the federal government should appy desperate desperate measures to tackle insecurity in the collective interest of all Nigerians.
According to Nwoha, “Let the monster of insecurity be tackled actively and proactively with the full weight of Nigeria’s security and defence capabilities.”
He explained that the activities of Boko Haram insurgents were completely against the principles and teachings of Islam.
“We want to state in unequivocal terms that Boko Haram does not represent Islam or Muslims, he stated.
He said the “The Federal Government should deploy all military arsenal at its disposal to arrest the trend for the interest of lives and properties of citizens.”
