Former Rivers State Governor, and a prominent figure in the opposition African Democratic Congress, ADC, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu has the sinister plan of destroying Abuja and returning the capital to Lagos, should be secure a second.
This is as he expressed serious disappointment in the conduct of the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, Prof Joash Amupitan.
According to the immediate past Minister of Transportation, anybody with a reputation to protect will not accept INEC Chairmanship position under the President Tinubu Government.
Amaechi, one of the ADC Presidential hopefuls, who spoke at the party’s protest match to the INEC Abuja Headquarters on Wednesday, accused Amupitan of only being out to do the biddings of the APC-led Federal Government.
“I am ashamed of the INEC Chairman. He started first by making sure new parties were not registered because those who appointed him are afraid of losing in a free and fair election.
“But whether they like it or not, they will lose the elections.
“APC said they are popular. Why are they afraid of elections? Tinubu said he is a leader of NADECO. Why is he killing democracy?
“In 2015, APC enjoyed Mahmud Jega who was the best, and still remains the best INEC Chairman”, he noted .
The former Rivers State Governor warned that Nigeria and Nigerians will face a more excruciating situation should President Tinubu be allowed to secure a second term in office.
He, however, expressed the confidence that the ADC, very much aware of the grim future that stares the country in the face, is more than determined to ease the APC Federal Government out of office come 2027.
According to him, President Tinubu does not mind to ruin Abuja and relocate the country’s capital back to Lagos.
He vowed that the ADC is committed to the task of freeing the people from the iron fist of President Tinubu, insisting that allowing him to continue in office will spell doom for the country.
“APC chased PDP out in 2015. It is our time to chase APC out of power because it does not mean well for the country..
“If you allow them to continue, they will ruin this capital or take it to Lagos . So, you must vote them out of power” Amaechi added.
The source further reports that the match which drew many prominent party stalwarts including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Labour Party, LP Presidential Candidate in 2023 , Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, former Governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the National Chairman of the party Senator David Mark, Secretary and former Governor of Osun state Rauf Aregbesola ,and so many others, was staged to protest alleged bias ,and misconduct by the Prof.Joash Amupitan-led INEC.
