Imo State Governor Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, has lauded Security Agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the, so far, peaceful conduct of the ongoing Governorship poll in the State.
The Governor, who is seeking a second term in office, also, commended the people of the State for turning out in their hundreds of thousands to exercise their rights.
In an off-season Election,, Governorship Elections are taking place in Imo, Bayelsa and Kogi States.
Uzodinma noted the peaceful conduct of the election in Imo State when he spoke to Journalists at his poling booth in his Omuma hometown after casting his vote. He was accompanied by his wife, Barrister Chioma Uzodinma, who also cast her vote.
On the peace in the State, Uzodinma noted that contrary to the wicked and mischievous thoughts and wishes of some people, there has been no disruption of peace in the State, anywhere today (Saturday November 11, 2023)
The Governor happily enthused: “I have not heard the sound of knockout, not to talk of gunshot.” He noted how brief and seamless it was for voters to be accredited (where he voted) to enable them carry out their patriotic duties. He commended INEC for that.
Uzodinma said he was not surprised by the huge number of voters who trooped out in Omuma to cast their votes, obviously for him, and jokingly noted that he is from there and “This prophet is recognized at home.”
The Governor refused to be dragged into any speculation on his chances of winning, but said he had just voted, and would prefer to wait than speculate on the outcome.
