Umuoji Community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State is reeling in fear, anger and shock.
An unknown number of gunmen, in the uncivilized hours of Saturday, February 24, 2024, murdered the President General of its Town Union, Chief Sly Onyema.
The gruesome murder took place in his bedroom.
Chief Onyema was asleep when the gunmen burst into his bedroom, woke him up, and assassinated him. They fled after they accomplished their evil deed.
Distraught villagers say they were on a mission to assassinate him and nothing more. They allege that they neither tried to remove anything from his home or did they try to kidnap him.
It is not known yet if he was in house alone or with members of his family.
At the time of filing this story, no statement has been issued by the Anambra State Police Command or the Community.
