Commercial activities in Ekiti State Capital, Ado, collapsed on Thursday as gunmen operating on motorcycles went on rampage, killing two persons at different locations.
The gunmen first killed a POS operator nicknamed Alfa around 9.00am in front of the State’s specialists hospital.
They had attempted to snatch cash from the deceased but struggled with them before he was shot dead.
Within an hour, a trader was hawking at the post office area in Ado Ekiti when the killers came on a bike, fired at him, and sped off the Scene.
Eye witnesses said the pattern of operation of the killers suggests a possible reprisal attacks by cult groups.
Men of Ekiti State Police Command were seen in Armored and other Patrol Vehicles parading the City in a convoy.
The Spokesperson for Ekiti State Police Command, DSP Sunday Abutu confirmed the incident adding that the command is seriously working to get the killers.
Investigations revealed that, at least 10 Persons have so far lost their lives in the same circumstance within the last two weeks in Ado Ekiti.
As part of security measures to curtail the killings, commercial motorcycle operators have been restricted to close work by 10.00 pm daily while they should also put on an apron while on duty.
