Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has explained that he is not involved in anti-party activities or sponsoring candidates of opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Aiyedatiwa spoke on Monday at a stakeholders’ meeting with the All Progressives Congress (APC) local government and ward chairmen in Akure, where he urged party leaders to mobilise support for the party ahead of the elections.

The governor explained that he has not asked any APC member to contest an election on the platform of another political party, describing allegations against him as false.

“I have zero tolerance for anti-party. I have never engaged in anti-party in my life,” Aiyedatiwa said.

He also dismissed claims that his administration was sponsoring APC members to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition parties.

Aiyedatiwa stated that the party’s grassroots structures remained critical to its electoral success, noting that elections were won at polling units located within the wards.

“Elections are won at the polling units. And the polling units are right there in the ward. And you are the ward chairmen. Very, very important. You are occupying a significant role in party structure.”

He directed the 203 ward chairmen and their secretaries to hold regular meetings and bring party leaders together to discuss party affairs and preparations for the 2027 elections.

The governor, while urging members to focus on mobilisation, warned that such activities should not be accompanied by anti-party conduct.

“So, no to anti-party, that’s what I’m trying to say. Let’s support Mr President and all the candidates of our party.”

The APC state chairman, Babatunde Kolawole, also warned members against anti-party activities, saying the party had gathered intelligence on alleged acts of disloyalty.

Kolawole said members found culpable would face appropriate consequences, while urging the local government and ward chairmen to support all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

He expressed confidence that the party would secure victory in the presidential, National Assembly and state House of Assembly elections in Ondo State.
