The Vice Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Rotimi Amaechi, has challenged Senator Adams Oshiomhole to show his educational certificates.
Amaechi spoke in response to his dismissal by Oshiomhole as shallow and unreliable.
Putting a finger on why he thinks Oshiomhole is after him, Amaechi revealed that it is because of the role he played in the removal of Oshiomhole as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Amaechi: “What is paining Oshiomhole is that he was removed as Chairman of the party, and I led the team that removed him as Chairman of the party because he was incapable of governing the party”.
Amaechi, a former Governor of Rivers State, who was, also, a two-term Transportation Minister under the late President Muhammadu Buhari Administration, spoke during an interview on Rapid TV. Oshiomhole, Amaechi posited has injured his reputation and credibility by dismissing him as shallow and unreliable.
Amaechi: “He said I’m shallow, but I hold degrees in Law and Literature, Master’s degrees in both fields, and a certificate from the University of London.
“I also have a Master’s degree from King’s College London, and I’m pursuing a Master’s degree in Global Political Economy,
“Tell him to show his certificate.”
The problem began when Oshiomhole inferred that Amaechi was “shallow” and “unreliable”, and accused him of always criticising the APC, and particularly President Bola Tinubu.
Amaechi said that Oshiomhole was party to his emergence as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, and wondered why and when he became shallow before him.
But Oshiomhole, in questioning Amaechi’s credibility recalled that the former Rivers State Governor had strongly criticised Atiku, and once described the primary from which Atiku emerged as the ADC presidential candidate as fraudulent. However, he said Amaechi changed his position as soon as Atiku approached him to work together with him. He also accused Amaechi of mismanaging public funds when he was Rivers State Governor
and abandoned projects.
But Amaechi denied any such mismanagement of funds and asked why it took Oshiomhole 12 years to make such accusations.
Amaechi: “It took him 12 years. Nigeria has not asked questions. Twelve years to accuse me and falsely. He didn’t say it as I left office, he didn’t say it one year after, two years after, three years after. Why now?”
