Those wondering about the roles of Daniel Bwala in the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, should wonder no more.
For months on end, not a few people have wondered, and are shocked over what they call the chameleon-like behaviour of Bwala, a Lawyer.
Tough-talking Bashir El-Rufai, a serving member of the House of Representatives, and son of the immediate past Governor of Kaduna State, has exposed Bwala for what he, allegedly, is.
Recall that Bwala, a member of the ruling Party, APC, in a surprise move, dumped the party for the PDP in the run-up to the 2023 Presidential election. He did so, according to him, in protest of the Party’s Muslim-Muslim Presidential ticket when then Presidential Candidate, Bola Tinubu, picked then Senator Kashim Shettima, a fellow Muslim, as his running mate.
Almost immediately after his defection, the PDP, in a move many saw as naive, appointed him a spokesman for Atiku/Okowo Presidential Campaign. He did his job, or so his employers thought, by hitting hard at the APC and its Presidential Team.
But El-Rufai has dismissed all that as a fluke. He describes it, almost, as planned. Proof? A couple of months after Atiku, finally, lost at the Supreme Court, Bwala made an-about turn. He visited President Bola Tinubu at the State House and became “a megaphone for Tinubu’s good deeds.” And that has since become his priority project.
Even though he has not officially gone back to the APC, he has not hidden his desire to do so. In his defence, he submitted that he was afterall a foundation member of the Party. He is also, almost, begging for a job fromTinubu. And, recently, when Tinubu went to France, Bwala went to see him.
But El-Rufai jnr explains why. He revealed after Bwala targeted his father and Peter Obi, Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party for an attack.
Bwala’s exposure by El-Rufai was triggered by the visit of the former Governor to the leadership of the Social Democratic Party, SDP. The former Governor whose Ministerial nomination by Tinubu was aborted by the Senate has been visiting a couple of politicians of opposition parties. That has caused some anxiety within the rank of his Party the APC. And there have been speculations that El-Rufai and Obi, whose Party, LP, is engulfed in crisis are planning to work.
Bwala posted that El-Rufai has plans to dump the APC and team up with Peter Obi in 2027, challenge, and sweep President Tinubu out of office.
But Honourable El-Rufai has just exposed the role he alleges Bwala played in the PDP. He said his role in the PDP was to betray the Party, to the extent that it was the APC that bought the ticked for Bwala to France in order to meet Tinubu. He called Bwala a liar. He submitted that the APC is rewarding Bwala for betraying the PDP.
And asked Bwala why he was telling lies about his father, El-Rufai and Obi.
He wrote on his X page: “APC rewarded you for your valuable betrayal to PDP. You were even flown to Paris. Why are you still here openly telling lies? What more is there for you to gain?”
Bashir El-Rufai had, a couple of days ago, said that the President and his father didn’t exactly have the best of relationships. Before then, he had said there could be consequences for the rejection of his father as a Minister.
