House of Representatives member and Peter Obi ally, Hon. Victor Afam Ogene, has revealed that Peter Obi’s political movement is attracting more followers despite the departure of a couple of prominent individuals.
Obi is the presidential candidate of the Natiinal Democratic Congress, (NDC) in the 2027 general elections.
Reacting to the withdrawal of Prophet Isa El-Buba’s support, he maintained that it will not weaken Obi’s political movement ahead of the 2027 election.
Speaking during an interview with SYMFONI TV, Ogene reacted to El-Buba’s decision to withdraw his support for Obi and back the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate.
Ogene said that several other influential supporters have joined Obi’s camp, arguing that the movement was attracting more followers despite the departure of prominent individuals.
“For every El-Buba lost, there are about probably five El-Bubas that have now joined the Obi train.”
He also referenced the Kwankwasiyya movement, noting that it did not support Obi during the previous election cycle.
Ogene said videos of large crowds supporting Obi in other states indicated that his political appeal extended beyond Kano.
The lawmaker added that some new supporters had chosen to remain anonymous until the appropriate time.
Ogene’s comments provide further insight into his assessment of Obi’s support base as political activities intensify ahead of 2027.
