It is old wine in a new bottle as Ekiti State House of Assembly on Tuesday unveiled names of commissioners designate forwarded by Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
The house confirmed that it has received the letter detailing the commissioner nominees of the Governor.
The Speaker, Mr Adeoye Aribasoye, who read the letter to members, listed the names of the nominees to include the former Head of Service, Mrs Peju Babafemi, Former Commissioner for Information, Mr Taiwo Olatunbosun, a former Deputy Speaker, Mr Dapo Karounwi, and a former Ado Local Government Chairman, Mrs Tosin Aluko.
Others are former Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Folorunso Olabode and immediate past Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Prof . Rasaki Bakare.
The Governor had last week promised that names of another set of commissioners will be forwarded to the legislature this week urging that they should be thoroughly screened by the assembly.
This is coming eight months after the Governor’s inauguration in October 2022.
He had earlier gotten clearance for a commissioner and two special advisers from the assembly, while the position of the Chief of Staff remains vacant as a result of power play among some powerful leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had last week condemned Oyebanji for his inability to pick commissioners to work with him, describing the delay as unconstitutional.
