Further insights were provided on Thursday April 11 2024 into the tragic death of Nollywood Actor John Paul Odonwodo popularly known as Junior Pope.
The National Inland Waterways Authority NIWA confirmed that the Actor, alongside two others died in the boat mishap.
The NIWA Area Manager Southeast, Suleiman Nicholas who confirmed the tragic incident, said twelve people were on board the Ill-fated boat ,with three persons still missing,while Seven people were rescued.
He stated that among the two persons still missing in the boat mishap ,which occurred in the Akpaka area of Nsugbe in Anambra East local council of Anambra state are two female and a male.
Nicholas who was fielding questions from the press said officials of the Authority are still at the scene of the accident ,in continuation of rescue operations and recovery activities.
The NIWA SouthEast Manager ,also announced that officials from the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, and security agencies, particularly the police ,are involved in the ongoing rescue and recovery activities.
However, he insisted that all reports concerning the cause of the boat mishap, and other information will, for now, be in the realm of speculations .
Accurate information about the tragic incident will only be available after the conclusion of the rescue efforts by his officials, he said.
