The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is contemplating on an alternative venue for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Orientation Course for prospective corps members deployed to Niger State.
To this end, it has announced the postponement of the orientation programme, citing ongoing renovation works at its orientation camp in Paiko.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu.
According to the statement, the decision became necessary due to the rehabilitation of facilities at the NYSC Orientation Camp, which is currently being undertaken by the Niger State Government, following damage caused by a recent windstorm.
NYSC Management said the temporary suspension of the exercise was to ensure that appropriate arrangements are put in place for a safe and conducive environment for corps members.
“Consequently, NYSC Management is making urgent arrangements to secure an alternative venue for the Orientation Course.
“A new commencement date and other relevant details will be communicated to affected Prospective Corps Members in due course,” the statement said.
The scheme expressed regret over the inconvenience the postponement may cause to prospective corps members and their families, while appreciating their understanding and cooperation during the period.
It assured that efforts were ongoing to finalise a new venue and reschedule the orientation programme without compromising standards or safety.
The NYSC reiterated its commitment to the welfare and safety of corps members as a priority in all its operations nationwide.
