The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN says the macro-economic gains have yet to traslate to physical benefist for Nigerians, saying efforst are ongoing to correct the situation.
Yemi Cardoso, the apex bank Governor made the remark at the Annual Banking and Finance Conference of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria in Abuja,the nation’scapital saying the effects of government’s macro-economic policies will soon be felt by households and businesses in the country.
Represented at the event by the Deputy Governor, Economic Policy Directorate, Philip Ikeazor, the CBN Governor stated that Nigerians were yet to experience better living conditions despite apparent improvement in the economy, which he said was made possibleby President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who, according to him has allowedthe apex bank to operate independently.
He stressed that all government and monetary agencies are currently synergising to ensure that the living conditions of Nigerians improved in the shortest possibletime, saying the macro-economic reforms willamount to nothing except it benefit the ordinary Nigerians.
“Some of the reforms being carried out on the fiscal side will begin to manifest very soon. Some of you are aware of things like the National Single Window, different initiatives that are underway, coupled with the macroeconomic reforms, is what will actually deliver those to the common man,” Cardoso said.
