The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, says Archbishop Chivir Chianson who endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election is on his own.
The umbrella body of Christians in the country, in a statement issued on Wednesday by its President, Daniel Okoh also denied that Chianson is the Association’s General Secretary, saying he has no authority to speak on its behalf.
Recall that the Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, CBCN, under which Chianson is the General Secretary, two months ago, threw its weight behind President Tinubu, saying it believes that the president will perform better if re-elected into office.
Reacting in the statement, Archbishop Okoh disclosed that CBCN is not its affiliate and that the two groups have no relationship whatsoever, warning that its endorsement of the president has no link with CAN.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Archbishop Chivir Chianson is not the General Secretary of CAN and has no authority or mandate to speak or act on its behalf,” the statement said.
