Buhari Mourns Queen Elizabeth ll

President Muhammadu Buhari has described the death of British Queen Elizabeth ll as a great loss to the world. The monarch died on Thursday after 21 years on the throne.  

There has been an outpour of condolences  to her family from world leaders since her demise.

British Prime  minister, Liz Truss in her mourning message  said the United Kingdom flourished under her reign

Her son, Prince Charles will become king in her stead.

In a statement late on Thursday President Buhari said the late monarch had a fulfilling reign. Buhari said her death is a great loss to the world, adding that the history of Nigeria is not complete without the role played by Queen Elizabeth  as pre- independence head of state.

The statement  said, “My family and I, and the more than 200 million Nigerians have learned with immense sadness of the passing of the Queen and the end of her unique and wonderful 70 year reign. Her late Majesty was the only British Sovereign known to 90 percent of our population.


“Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with the Royal Family and the people of the United Kingdom and the entire Commonwealth as we join the entire world in mourning her loss.

“The story of modern Nigeria will never be complete without a chapter on Queen Elizabeth ll, a towering global personality and an outstanding leader. She dedicated her life to making her nation, the Commonwealth and the entire world a better place.”
