He made the appointments after his acceptance speech in which he said that he has reclaimed his stolen mandate. He then swung into action by immediately appointing aids to his government.

Meanwhile, four lawmakers, Authur Egwim(Ideato North), Obinna Okwara(Nkwerre), Chyna Iwuanyanwu(Nwangele) and Nelson Ezerioha (Oru west) have joined the race for the next Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, since by zoning the next deputy speaker will now go to Orlu zone while the majority leader will go to Owerri zone.
The House will vote on the issue as soon as they convene from their current recess. They will reconvene on January 21 after the Christmas and new Year holidays, which started before the Yuletide.
It is speculated that in the next few days more than half of the Imo Assembly members will decamp to the All Progressives congress, APC. As at now, the APC has no single representative in the state assembly, which is currently dominated by the Peoples democratic Party, PDP.
