The Nasarawa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal Sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State Capital, has sacked Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and declared Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governorship Candidate, David Ombugadu as the winner of the March 18th, 2023, election in the State.
Delivering judgment virtually, Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Ezekiel Ajayi, declared Emmanuel Ombugadu of the PDP as the lawfully elected Governor of Nasarawa State.
In the ruling delivered on Monday, two of the Justices agreed that the election was won by the PDP while one Judge dissented.
Justice Ajayi had maintained that the petitioner was able to prove his case beyond reasonable doubt.
Governor Sule was seeking re-election for a second term but faced stiff opposition during the election, and polled a total of 347,209 votes to defeat his closest opponent, PDP’s Ombugadu, who secured 283,016 votes.
