The All Progressives Congress has suffered an unbelievable shock.
A Yenegoa Federal High Court, on Thursday, declared the candidacy of its Governorship candidate, David Lyon, null and void.
The Judge insisted that the Primary which produced Lyon was not valid. And so, sacked him.
The suit against Lyon’s candidacy was filed by the immediate past Minister of State, Agriculture, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri.
He had contested the Primary with Lyon and others, but vehemently protested Lyon’s victory, dismissing it as fraudulent.
Lyon’s running mate, Senator Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo had earlier been disqualified by another Federal High Court Judge, Inyang Ekwo, for submitting fake certificates.
The Bayelsa Governorship election is scheduled for November 16. The window for the substitution of candidates has closed.
It will be recalled that the APC suffered the same fate in Rivers and Zamfara states in the 2019 General elections.
