The President of Burundi, Pierre Nkurunziza has passed on.
Announcing his death in a statement, the Burundian Government said the 55 year old President died on Tuesday, when he suddenly had a heart attack. It was massive, and gave him no survival chance.
Unfortunately, his wife, the First Lady, was not by his side when he died. She is in South Africa where she was taken to for treatment, after she tested positive for COVID-19.
There have been speculations over President Nkurunziza’s health since his wife was flown to South Africa on health grounds.
