The Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, has prayed for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that his presidency will not lead to his death.

The Ogun state First Class monarch stated this when President Tinubu paid him a courtesy visit at his palace in Ijebu Ode.

Recalling how Tinubu became president, the monarch said God spoke through Tinubu, when he declared, last year, ahead of the 2023 presidential election that it was his turn to become president.

Tinubu had in 2022 spoken in Abeokuta, the state capital, following reports that some stalwarts of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, including former President Muhammadu Buhari were plotting to deny him the party’s presidential ticket.

He later emerged as the party’s candidate and still went ahead to win the presidency earlier this year

Speaking during the visit Awujale said it was through God’s benevolence that Tinubu became president, praying however that “may it not lead to death”.

Awujale said, “There is nothing one can do by himself except what God wants for that person.

“God spoke through you that it is your turn and may it not lead to death.”
