The  Special Assistant on Public Communications to Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Phrank Shaibu has tackled President Bola Tinubu over his Umrah trip to Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

President Tinubu, expected to be back this week, travelled to Makkah, Saudi Arabia, last week, to pray for Nigeria, and seek Allah’s face in his bid for a second term.

But speaking during an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today, Monday, Shaibu accused Tinubu of going to Mecca with only Governors from the North while his cabinet is full of Yoruba.

Shaibu accused President Tinubu of politicising a religious trip, and pointed out that it  was hypocritical of Tinubu to travel to Umrah with only Northern governors.

“President Tinubu travelled with only Northern governors to Umrah. Meanwhile, his cabinet is fortified with Yoruba people. That is the height of hypocrisy.”

The only reason,  Shaibu stated, why the President went to the Holy Land with only Northern Governors is to score political points in the North.

According to him, President Tinubu, aware that his he is accused of  Yorubanisating his Government, decided to use the Umrah trip as a  balancing act.

If President Tinubu  believes in inclusion, Shaibu said, he should not have populated  his cabinet with  people from his own ethnic group.
