Army Appoints Anele First Female Spokesperson

Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele has broken  the jinx by becoming the first female Spokesperson of the Nigerian Army.

She was, on Wednesday, April 16, appointed by the Army as the Acting Director, Army Public Relations. She succeeds Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, thus becoming the first woman to hold the position.

Lt. Col. Anele is a member of the Direct Regular Course 15. She also attended the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations. She had, before her appointment, attended and completed a six-month strategic course at the Nigerian Army Resouce Centre. Thereafter, Anele was posted to the Department of Civil-Military Relations where she was before her new appointment.

In the course of her career, she had also served as the Public Relations Officer in the office of the Chief of Army Staff.

Her predecessor, Major General Nwachukwu, has been posted to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre.
