ADC campaign council made the allegation following Kwankwaso’s call on the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar to step down from the presidential race.

Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano state and vice presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, had called on Abubakar to step down for Petr Obi, his party’s presidential candidate.

The NDC vice presidential candidate made the call on Friday during an interview on Channels Television programme.

Reacting in a statement on Friday, ADC Presidential Campaign Council’s Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan accused Kwankwaso of making comment capable of dividing the opposition ahead the 2027 general election, saying his focus should be on how President Tinubu and ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, would be defeated.

According to Ologbondiyan, Kwankwaso ought to join other Nigerians who are eager to vote out President Tinubu due to his abysmal performance instead of polarizing the opposition with his remarks.

He said Kwankwaso is ‘’fixated’’ on the ADC presidential candidate who many Nigerians believe have the capacity to fix the nation’s problems and restore the country back to economic stability and prosperity.

He said Kwankwaso is among the willing collaborators the APC is trying to use to use as one of the strategies to weaken the opposition ahead the election, saying however, that Nigerians are wiser and understand that the ruling party is working to create confusion and weaken the opposition’s resolve to change the status quo.

“What Kwankwaso is doing amounts to advancing President Tinubu’s interests. It is a familiar APC strategy to use willing collaborators within the opposition to create confusion, sow division and weaken the collective efforts to bring about political change.

“Nigerians are wiser than that and will not allow themselves to be distracted by political manoeuvres designed to rescue an unpopular administration,” Ologbondiyan said.
