A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Kenneth Imasuagbon, has fired back at Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, declaring that heaven will come down if former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar is prevented from contesting the 2027 presidential election.
Imasuagbon’s reaction followed Keyamo’s assertion that heaven would not fall if Atiku was absent from the ballot in 2027.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the ADC chieftain insisted that Nigerians would not accept any attempt to deny them the opportunity to decide who governs the country through the ballot box.
He maintained that Atiku must be on the ballot, warning that any attempt to exclude him would provoke strong resistance.
The ADC chieftain also criticised the Federal High Court judgment which sacked the David Mark-led leadership of the party and nullified the process that produced Atiku as its presidential candidate.
He described the ruling as an attempt to undermine the opposition ahead of the 2027 elections, expressing confidence that the ADC would overturn the decision at the Court of Appeal.
Keyamo had defended the judgment, recalling how the APC accepted Supreme Court decisions that nullified its electoral victories in Bayelsa and Zamfara states without attacking the judiciary.
The minister cautioned opposition figures against intimidating judges over unfavourable judgments.
“You cannot abuse judges and blackmail the judiciary when it doesn’t go your way,” Keyamo had said.
