Six days after her disappearance, relief spread through Abuja’s legal community on Sunday after National Youth Service Corps member and lawyer Eunice Ameh was found safe, days after she was declared missing.
Family sources confirmed she was found unharmed on Sunday morning, ending days of uncertainty.
“She has been found unharmed this morning,” a family source said.
Details of her disappearance and how she was found had not been officially disclosed, but Ameh was last seen on Wednesday, 6 May 2026, after leaving work in Abuja.
Her disappearance triggered concern among colleagues, friends, and members of the legal profession.
Early report had indicated that suspected kidnappers that abducted her have demanded for N20 million ransom.
The Nigerian Bar Association, (NBA) had demanded her immediate release and urged security agencies to step up efforts to find her.
In a statement entitled “Release Eunice Ameh Now!” NBA President Afam Osigwe called the incident deeply disturbing.
“When a young lawyer goes missing, the pain is not distant to the Nigerian Bar Association — it is personal.
“We are more than a professional body; we are a community bound by shared sacrifice, shared dreams and a collective duty to stand for one another.”
Ameh was serving in the FCT under the NYSC scheme. She disappeared under troubling circumstances after work, sparking anxiety among colleagues and relatives.
“No young Nigerian who answered the call to national service should disappear without an immediate, coordinated and determined response from our security agencies,” the NBA added, urging the Inspector-General of Police to deploy tactical and intelligence resources to secure her recovery and bring anyone involved to justice.
Family sources said Ameh had only recently started as a sales manager with Blades and Butchers Ltd on Lake Chad Crescent, Maitama, Abuja.
She resumed about two weeks before she went missing and was also preparing to complete her NYSC service.
“She works at Lake Chad Crescent with Blades and Butchers in Maitama. She just started two weeks ago,” a family source said earlier.
She was last seen around 5:40 pm on Wednesday heading home toward the Life Camp junction, where she lived in a corps members’ lodge.
The case was reported to the Maitama Police Division, and the NYSC authorities were notified. Before her recovery, relatives described the wait as traumatic and emotionally devastating.
