The Chairman of the Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party, Phillip Aivoji, has been released by his abductors.
Aivoji was abducted by gunmen at Ogere, Lagos Ibadan Expressway on Thursday while coming from the PDP South West Meeting held in Oyo State.
The Lagos State spokesman of the PDP, Hakeem Amode, confirmed the release of the kidnapped State Party Chairman.
In a message on Monday, Amode, the Lagos State PDP Publicity Secretary said that Aivoji was released after he had spent four days with the kidnappers.
“We use this opportunity to appreciate your prayers and to thank you all for your concerns and prayers,” Amode said.
The party thanked security agencies and government authorities that facilitated his freedom.
It would be recalled that the abductors had demanded a N200 ransom for the release of Aivoji, but Amode was mute about the ransom.
At the time of filing this report, the PDP is yet to comment on the modalities behind his release, and whether a ransom was paid to secure his release or not.
