Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC says he’s ready to get back to work.
The presidential hopeful returned to the country on Thursday after spending 12 days in the United Kingdom, UK for undisclosed reasons.
Tinubu spoke just as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Iyorcha Ayu said the presidential candidate of his party will win next year’s election by at least seven million votes.
The presidential race, close watchers of politics in the country said, will be a three-horse race between Tinubu, Atiku, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
While he was away, his political opponents raised issues about his health, saying he was not fit to be President and Commander-in-Chief.
The former Lagos state governor and APC National Leader fired back at his traducers saying he’s as fit as a fiddle.
He also released some pictures to prove that he was not been held down by any ailment as speculated by his opponents.
Speaking after his arrival, Tinubu said he was getting back to work immediately.
Tinubu said, “The trip was very good. I enjoyed my break. And I’m happy to be back to my fatherland.
“And Nigerians should expect a very intelligent ability to think and perform. Nigerians should expect that the help they needed is here, the hope that is almost jittering is back and back actively.
“And we hold every effort to the country of patriotism, dedication, capacity and ability to do the job. Not negative thinking, not the fact that Nigeria has failed; this country is the greatest.
“If it is to rebuild, we are builders; if it is construction, we are constructors. If it is assurance, we give Nigerians the assurance that we definitely make a better country out of it all.”
Ayu who spoke in Bauchi state during a stakeholders meeting said Atiku will defeat other candidates by a wide margin.
He said, “In a presidential election, if you don’t win Bauchi, you can’t win the presidency, and we are very sure that with what we saw today; the massive mobilisation that has been done, we are certainly on our way to victory.
“Atiku is your son, the North-East has never had a President before and yet, when democracy started, the North-East led the way with Alhaji Tafawa Balewa. Power is returning to the North-East, vote for your son, come out en masse, it is not enough to come for the rally.
“All of you should have a Permanent Voter Card make sure you campaign at your polling unit, don’t campaign only at rallies, we don’t want people in Abuja, everybody must go back home to his polling unit. On that day (election day), we will shock Nigerians, the victory margin is going to be seven million votes.
“Atiku Abubakar will move to the Villa and we will rescue the country from all the damages that the present government has done.
“We have suffered insecurity in the North-East, you are suffering from hunger, you are suffering from diseases. The PDP under the leadership of President Atiku Abubakar will correct these ills.”
