2023: Ex-Presidential Aide Warns Atiku, Others To Bury Ambitions For Unity

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar  and other northerners eyeing the presidency in 2023 must forget their ambitions to keep Nigeria united, a former governor of Anambra state, Chukwuemeka Ezeife has said.

“We expect APC and PDP to present a south-east person for president,’ he said in an interview.

Doing otherwise, he said Nigeria will break.

The former governor is among notable Nigerians agitating for somebody of Igbo extraction in the south east to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari when he leaves office in three years,

In an interview with Sahara Reporter, an online news medium, the politician who served former President Olusegun Obasanjo as a special adviser, said the two major political parties in the country, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and All Progressives Congress, APC must  ensure that candidates from the southern part of the country were allowed to be flag-bearers of the parties.

He warned northerners to the give his people the chance to rule the country for peace and unity to prevail.

Apart from Abubakar, Governors Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna state, Aminu Tanbuwal of Sokoto state, Babagana Kingibe and others have shown interest in the nation’s top job.

Ezeife, who’s not happy with this said “I have heard about northern interest in this.

The north likes Nigeria to survive because if they want to go again, it means they want to break the country completely.

“If they come out seriously, unfortunately, they will break the country immediately.”

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi state, Orji Uzor Kalu, a former governor of Abia state and Rochas Okorocha are among politicians from the South East who have indicated their interest to be president.
