It is a humiliation no woman prays to be given by her own husband, especially, in public. But the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, gave it to his wife on Saturday while declaring his ambition on Saturday, April 2, 2022, to run for the office of the President in 2023.

The Presidential aspirant forgot the name of his wife.

A man of many wives, the youthful Bello didn’t need to mention the names of his wives while declaring his ambition. But he chose to. And, in doing so, committed a blunder, shamed himself, and one of his wives.

As he reeled out their names, he got stuck when he got to wife number three.

Confused, he had to be reminded of the name of his own wife – Hadiza – by one obviously embarrassed supporter.

Since the incident, many are wondering and asking questions. They are asking if he has the capacity to, just in case, rule Nigeria. They say that he has given an inkling into what he would have in stock for Nigeria if he ever realises his ambition. They are asking how he would remember the  million problems Nigeria has. They are asking if he would even remember the names of his Cabinet members. Or the names of States, their capitals or their Governors.

In the game of Football, what happened  to Bello is called “own goal.” In his first public appearance as a Presidential aspirant, Yahaya Bello scored a goal against himself.

One cheeky fellow insists Hadiza, wife number three, whose name he forgot,  should demand for a public apology, or “keep him out of the odzer room for sometime as punishment.”

In more civilised climes though, women would regard that as an insult, and force him to withdraw from the Presidential race – even before it starts.
