The Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra MASSOB, has described the emergence of Senator John Azuta Mbata as the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide as an eloquent testimony to the indisputable Igboism of the Ikwerre people of Rivers State.
The group noted that Mbata’s election has rubbished the long-held
hypocritical falsehood and camouflaged make-believe that Ikwerres are not Igbo.
In a statement issued on Saturday January 25, 2025, by its leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu, the MASSOB regretted that there had been veiled and mischievous moves over the years by some forces to undermine ,and even completely obliterate the Igboism of Ndigbo in Rivers State.
The Movement has, therefore, pledged its unflinching support and loyalty to the Ohaneze Ndigbo leadership under Senator Mbata.
“For decades there has been systematic sponsored falsehood to deny and scrap the igboism of Ndigbo in Rivers State. But the emergence of Senator John Azuta Mbata ,an Ikwerre man, as the newly elected President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo has proved the Igbo critics wrong.
“MASSOB wishes to remind His Excellency that your leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide is very unique and special because your emergence as the Ohaneze Ndigbo President General has exposed the aged long hypocritical falsehood and camouflaged make-believe that Ikwerre people are not Igbos .
“Your administration as President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo will forever silence the merchants of destruction and division of Igboland. Ndigbo are solidly behind your leadership.
“MASSOB will continue in partnering with your leadership of our people irrespective of our locations”, part of the statement reads.
According to pro-Biafra body, Senator Mbata’s emergence has justified the under-carpet truth about the founding fathers of Ohaneze Ndigbo in 1976 when it was formed as Igbo Union before changing to its present name in 1979.
MASSOB further noted that at formation, the apex umbrella body of Ndigbo had such prominent and illustrious people like Dr Obi Wali, Senator Francis Ella, Eze Nwonodi, Eze Nwoluchem, Chief Aguma and Chief Nwuche as founding fathers.
MASSOB recounted how the efforts of the founding fathers culminated in the emergence of Dr Akanu Ibiam as the pioneer President General.
While reaffirming its commitment towards supporting the new Ohaneze Ndigbo leadership in further uniting the Igbo, MASSOB also appealed to Igbo to join hands to actualize the lofty dreams of the founding fathers of Ohaneze Ndigbo.
