Hundreds of women in beleaguered Yelewata Community, Guma Local Government of Benue state  on Monday, August 11, 2025, embarked on a protest against continued attacks on their community by suspected killer – herdsmen.

The protest was sparked by an alleged killing of no fewer than three persons on their farms early Monday morning by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.

The attack, according to Matthew  Mnayam, a retired public servant and local leader, also, led to three others sustaining life-threatening gunshots injuries.
