Woman tortures boy, accuse him of wizardry

The police recently arrested a woman who they claimed assaulted a minor who was living with her, on the allegation that the boy is a wizard. Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Edgal Imohimi, under whose watch she was paraded in Lagos recently, described it as a typical case of “Man’s inhumanity to man”Chinonye Ayonotu.

The woman, Charity  Iyonotu, 45,  is said to be the Aunt to the alleged victim, Chinonye Iyonotu. Both are said to be living near Seme border, in a place aptly called Animal Kingdom.

The woman has been living with the Boy since 2016, when she went to Imo state to bring him to her house. They both hail from Nkota Local government area of Imo state, in a little known town called Agbaai. According to the boy, he had been abandoned by the mother, who simply walked out on him to an unknown destination.

Information indicated that the woman has been abusing the child until nemesis caught up with him. On that faithful day, the woman, after using a horsewhip on the boy, she locked him up and tied his hands behind him.

“The ordeal of the little boy came to the fore when on the 9th of May at 9 am in the morning, the suspect used horse whip a.k.a. koboko to flog the child, inflicting injuries all over his body”, the police said. “She thereafter locked him up in her one room apartment with his two hands tied behind his back and left to her shop. The survivor was crying and shouting for help which made one peter Alukuto call the Police. When the police team arrived, they broke the door of the house and rescued the child. The suspect will be charged to the special and Sexual offences court as soon as investigation is concluded” the police said.
