Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of biting the fingers that fed him.
An angry Mohammed held this opinion in reaction to the recent Press interview held by Wike in Abuja.
Wike had, last Sunday, during a media chat spoke condescendingly of the Chairman of Board of Trustees, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Adolphus Wabara. The Minister said that if Wabara was his father, he would have since disowned him. He, also accused Wabara of corruption. Proof: Wike alleged that Wabara was removed as Senate President by then President Olusegun Obasanjo over issues which bordered on corruption. Wike, also, as has been his usual since the run-up to the 2023 Presidential Election, ran down the PDP, a party under which he was a two-term Governor of Rivers State, and before then, a Minister of State.
In response, a calm Wabara said he wouldn’t descend to Wike’s level. As for being corrupt, Wabara said Nigerians know who that cap fits.
But reacting to Wike in a statement he issued, Governor Mohammed said Wike simply holds “bombastic media chats.” He accused the Minister of turning round to always denigrate the PDP, a platform, Bala reminded him, on which back he climbed to become a star in politics. The Governor expressed shock that Wike offered himself as a vessel to be used against the PDP instead of appreciating the Party.
He dismissed Wike as a erratic, a fair-weather friend, and one whose “personal ambition eclipses loyalty, principles, and collective interests.” He also dismissed Wike as one who thrives “on drama and divisiveness.”
Mohammed: “His (Wike’s) recent media outburst was yet another reminder of his transactional approach to politics where personal ambition eclipses loyalty, principles and collective interests.”
Distancing himself from Wike’s behavior, the statement compared the two Mohammed and Wike. “Unlike Wike who thrives on drama and divisiveness, Sen. Bala Mohammed has always understood that politics is not a game of self-serving theatrics but a platform to serve the public good.”
The Governor, also, described Wike as erratic and unreliable. He said: “Wike’s erratic behavior and opportunistic alliances expose him as an unreliable and fair-weather friend – traits that alienate even those who once stood by him.”
Governor Mohammed doubles as the Chairman of PDP Governors Forum.
