In continuation of his snub of Senator Ireti Kingibe, the Senator who represents the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, FCT Minister, has said that the only Senator he knows is the immediate past FCT Minister, Philip Aduda.

Kingibe, one of the few Female Senators in Nigeria’s National Assembly, defeated Aduda of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2023 General Elections. Kingibe ran under the banner of the Labour Party, LP. But she and Wike have never seen eye to eye with Wike snubbing her existence as the Senator representing the FCT.

In an indirect dig at Senator Kingibe and her performance at the Senate so far, Wike said “Politics no be grammar.” According to him, there is the need the need for politicians to prioritize purposeful engagement with their constituents and not listen to  empty rhetoric. He advised people against listening to people who speak eloquently as against  those who produce tangible results. “Politics no be grammer”, he emphasized.

He praised Senator Philip Aduda as a good example of a leader who truly connects with the people. “He’s the only senator I know.” And in slight hint that Senator Kingibe may not represent the FCT in 2027, Wike said: Future political leaders must prioritize the voices and needs of the people. This time around, we will send people who will listen to people. We will send people who will come back to you and say: This is what you sent me to go and do, and this is what I have brought.”

This is, however, not the first time Wike has hinted that Kingibe would likely not go back to the Senate in 2027 to represent the FCT.
