What I will Do Differently If Elected Ekiti Governor – Reps Member

A member of the House of Representatives, now a Governorship aspirant of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) in Ekiti state, Mr Olufemi Bamisile, has promised to make the State less dependent on revenue from the Federation Account, if elected Governor.

Bamisile, who spoke in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, said: “I have no doubt that the depth of my concern and commitment towards the growth and development of Ekiti State will ultimately translate into economic prosperity for the wellbeing of the citizens and residents of the State.

“I specifically seek the office of Governor to offer our State the needed visionary, purposeful, competent and exemplary leadership that will take us to higher grounds and greater heights.

“Only recently, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the creation of Ekiti State. Expectedly, it was a time to take stock, reflect on the past and review the journey into the future.

“The underlining reason for the agitation for the creation of the State, which was to fast track the economic growth and development still remains our essential yearning request as I consult stakeholders and citizens of our great State.

“In spite of the moderate growth and development that we have recorded across the length and breadth of the State, we surely need to do more to transform Ekiti State into the economic realities that we desire.

“Since the task of building and developing the State into a prosperous and enviable society is a continuous process, it is therefore a thing of commitment for me to always strive not only to be a part of the efforts to make Ekiti State great, but also to lead and spearhead the onerous task of transforming our society into a more sustainable and prosperous one.

“In achieving this important goal of transforming Ekiti -State into a prosperous society, I have put in place a set of cardinal programmes that will be the guiding agenda of the government under my leadership.

“Paramount among these deliverables is Leadership and Good Governance. From my interactions with Ekiti kete, home and abroad, it is evident that the search and yearning for good leadership is top on the list of this desire.

“They yearn for the leadership that will tackle the challenges of insecurity, youth unemployment, poverty, and the resultant vicious economic cycle of low investment, low productivity and low income.

“While I will ensure an all-inclusive government, I will at the same time stand on a foundation of good governance principles and take full responsibility to continually do what is best to transform our State into a society where hope will replace despair, prosperity replacing poverty, peace and progress in place of insecurity.

“One remarkable goal that I intend to achieve with the implementation of the set of agenda that my government will pursue is to make Ekiti- State less dependent on fiscal revenue from the federation account by developing sustainable economic base built on the development of our natural endowments.

“I intend to vigorously pursue the development of resources and regenerate the depleting ones which have previously given us comparative advantages especially in Agriculture.

“In addition to the development of agriculture, I will also focus on the development of our human resources which ultimately will transform into the development of knowledge economy which had been initiated by the present administration.

“I will radically commission a team of experts that will profile our natural endowments in agriculture, water, hospitality, forestry, and mineral resources.

“My government will pursue the concept of value addition to all the resources available in the State to avoid leakages of benefits in investment and employment opportunities.
