While his son was freed after the payment of about N60 million ransom, the District Head was killed by the abductors following the inability of all concerned ,including the Sokoto State Government, to pay the heavy bounty placed on his head.

In a statement issued on Monday October 7, 2024, Ahmed Idris quoted Governor Nasir Idris as also describing the development as sad and unfortunate.

According to the statement, the State Governor, while expressing deep concern over the abduction, however, assured that Government will work in concert with security agencies and other relevant entities to ensure that the District Head and others are rescued unhurt.
