Veteran Nollywood Actor, Alabi Yellow Dies At 62

The Nigerian Movie Industry has been thrown into mourning. Hours after the Music industry lost Olanrewaju Abdulganiyu Fasasi, popularly known as Sound Sultan, another veteran in the make believe industry, Samuel Alabi Oludayo Akinpelu, popularly known as Alabi Yellow, is dead.

He was aged about 62 years before his demise.

The sad news of his death was disclosed by Nollywood Group platform, “Nollywood First” and the Celestial Church of God where he belonged and worshipped.

Before his demise, his health hadn’t been stable. His poor health was first made known last year, where he was said to have suffered a stroke ailment.

It was confirmed by this news medium that his health deteriorated following the death of his wife, which left him devastated.

His condition was so bad that he moved to his hometown, Ikorodu, to live with his mother, where he was being attended to medically and traditionally.

It would be recalled that his colleagues in the industry rallied round to pick the bill of his treatment. His last known movie role was in Kunle Afolayan’s Mokalik, where he acted.

The fair-complexioned thespian hailed from the Olowobusanbusan family of Ikorudu. He was an honourary Evangelist in the Celestial Church of Christ, going from one parish to another evangelising before the unexpected ailment hit him like a thunderbolt and left him bedridden.

It would be recalled that in his last interview with the media, he was asked what he was doing after his long absence from the movie industry. He said he has delve into music, mainly his Chuch.

“What I’m doing now is music. I’m doing something in the church because I’m a Celestial Church of Christ member, evangelising, moving from one church to another for people to listen to the word of God. So, I’m an honorary evangelist now.”

The thespian will be sorely missed by colleagues in the industry who see him as a role model and mentor.
