US Visa: Trump Bars Pregnant Nigerian Women

Pregnant Nigerian women planning to travel to the United States this year to give birth will face more scrutiny from the American authorities.

It has become habitual for wealthy Nigerians, particularly celebrities to deliver their babies in the US i order to obtain citizenship.

Nigerian women with muslim background are not likely to have their visa approved, the magazine has now learnt in the latest move by US to slash the number of immigrants entering the country.

AP, a popular news wire has in its latest report said the Donal Trump Administration has decided to tighten the noose on immigrants from countries with high Shiite population.

Nigeria has a large population of Shiites, though critics of the Trump administration said the development is not unconnected with the diplomatic spat between t5he US and Iran over the killing of Iranian General Soleiman.

Recall that the administration, has stated last week, its readiness to add new countries to its visa prohibition list.

Some analysts, have said Nigeria is among the countries that will be added to the list.

Meanwhile, US Consular sources, quoted by AP said President Trump in a bid to curb the number of foreigners gaining American citizenship through birth, will announce soon announce plans to reduce the number of pregnant women coming into the United States.

The source said pregnant women Visa applicants will now face open-ended scrutiny because they will now be treated like other foreigners coming to the US for medical treatment.

The applicants will have to prove they are coming for medical treatment and they have the money to pay for it, the source from US State Department told AP.

Part of the plan, the source also stated, is to clamp down on operators of birth tourism agencies for visa fraud or tax evasion.
