Looking at husband and wife as they jogged happily together on Saturday, nobody had an inkling of the evil plot boiling inside the man. Not the neighbours. Not the wife. Not the wife’s younger sister who lives with them. Not their two kids they left behind.

They made such a lovely couple. Good looking. They also appeared happy, and seemed to have everything going for them. They had moved into a good environment – the airy Lekki area of Lagos.

But on Sunday, June 21, everything changed. It was a day of horror.

The man killed his wife in a most horrendous manner. He put on their music set and raised the volume to high heavens so nobody would hear any noise. Then he tied the two legs of his beautiful wife together. Then, the hands. He cellotaped her mouth. He then brought out two  knives which he had obviously hidden earlier, in their bedroom. He started by shaving her hair.

Then, he went to the actual work, butchering his wife.

When he was done, he took the easy and cowardly way out.

He drank Sniper, a poisonous pesticide, commonly used to kill rats, and died.

Ironically, it was the loud music which exposed the horror. Finding the mouse unbearable, neighbours went to the house to ask that the volume of the music be toned down.

They met the wife’s younger sister, and the couple’s two kids downstairs. After their complaint, she went up to tell them about the complainants from neighbours. It was the horror that confronted her.  Two dead bodies. One bloodied. The other, foaming, and stretched out, on his own.

The problem that led to the tragedy:  had issues over the paternity of one of their children.

According to neighbours, residents not much was known of the couple, as they had just moved into   their home in Victory Park estate.

Neighbours revealed that on Sunday afternoon,  the couple’s apartment was filled with  loud music emanating from their home and this lasted for many hours.

The neighbors went to the estate security office to complain about the loud music and insisted the estate security officials go there and caution the couple.

The estate security authorities went to the couple’s compound to appeal to them to turn down the volume of the music coming from their apartment.

They, however, met with the wife’s sister who was downstairs with the couple’s children.

The sister immediately went upstairs to inform her sister and the husband about the complaint laid by the estate authorities.

She was said to have knocked several times but got no response.

After waiting for so long, she and the estate security officials decided to pull the door down. They were greeted by the horrific sight of blood gushing out of the wife where she was stabbed, and the Sniper bottle beside the husband sleeping lifelessly.

Apparently, the man had killed his wife. It is believed it was pre-meditated because when they got into the room, they saw different kinds of knives there. The woman’s legs and hands were bound and her mouth shut with a cellotape. The husband used a clipper to shave her hair, stabbed her head, her eyes, stabbed her multiple times with different knives in different parts of her body.

The scene was nothing short of a horror movie.

Lagos State Police Command Spokesperson, Bala Elkana, who confirmed the incident said, “It is true. Homicide detectives have sealed up the place.

They have commenced investigation. The bodies of the man and the woman have been moved to the hospital for  autopsy.”
