The first Nigerian fatality, on Nigeria’s soil, of Coronavirus, has been recorded.
He is a former Managing Director of the PPMC Suleiman Achimugu. He died at about 2.00am from corona virus, Monday morning.
Achimugu got back from the United Kingdom two weeks ago.
Speculation is that he was on same flight with Atiku’s son, who is battling with the disease in an Abuja hospital.
The former PPMC boss started exhibiting symptoms last Tuesday. The family reported to the NCDC, which personnel came to the house and took his blood specimen.
Allegation is that the NCDC never got back to the family.
By Sunday afternoon, Achimugu was coughing profusely. The family called the NCDC to inquire about his results.
It turned out positive.
NCDC officials picked him up and rushed him to the Gwagwalada hospital where he died at 2.00am this morning.
His family members are currently under quarantine in their house.
In a release, the NCDC said he came back to Nigeria from the UK two weeks ago, where he had gone for medical attention.
It also added that: “He had underlying medical conditions – myeloma and diabetes. And was undergoing chemotherapy.”
Meanwhile, the number of Nigerians positive to the disease, as at Monday morning, stands at 35, according to the NCDC.
