The National leadership of the Tinubu Support Group ,TSG ,has strongly warned against the use of its identity for unauthorized political purposes
This is as it distanced itself from the purported statement issued by some persons in Rivers state calling for the intervention of the APC National body in the process of selecting the party’s candidates for the Council election.
The Source reports that some persons who claimed to be representing the TSG in Rivers state had, at the weekend, amidst the ongoing party primaries ahead of the August 30, 2025 scheduled Local Government election in the state, urged the National leadership of the APC to take over the conduct of the party’s primaries, sale of nomination forms and all the processes leading up to the polls proper.
However, in a statement issued on Monday by its Director-General, Dr Umar Yakassai, the TSG regretted that none of the signatories to the said statement on the Rivers State Local Council polls is a recognized member of the group.
While denying any link whatsoever with the said statement, the TSG called on the general public to be wary of those who may wish to deploy its good for political gains.
“The Tinubu Support Group, TSG, strongly cautions against the unauthorized use of its name in furtherance of any localized political agenda, especially those that may seek to further divide the All Progressive Congress, APC, at a critical time for the party.
“Any communications emanating from the Tinubu Support Group will always be issued through our official channels, signed by authorized representatives only”, Yakassai stated .
The TSG DG emphasized that as a group with national spread, comprising dedicated supporters and volunteers, it is irrevocably committed to the advancement of the policies, ideals and leadership of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
“Our focus is on strengthening party unity, promoting democracy and ensuring inclusive development across Nigeria”, he noted .
Yakassai, therefore, appealed to members, supporters and stakeholders to, as matter of necessity, prioritize the pursuit of unity, discipline and progress of the party, while shunning acts capable of engendering rancour.
