President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has moved in to douse the current political tension in Rivers State.
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed announced the intervention by the President on Tuesday, while briefing State House reporters after the meeting of the National Police Council presided over by the President at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to Mohammed, the President was talking to the parties involved in the crisis, adding that it appeared there would be peace with his intervention.
“He (President Tinubu) has shown that he is President for PDP and APC. We are going to work with him.”
Governor Simi Fubara and Nyesom Wike, his predecessor, who is currently Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), had met at the Presidential Villa in Abuja Tuesday morning.
With the intervention by the President, there is hope that whatever issue that led to the crisis will be resolved by the parties.
Elder statesman, Chief Clark, Ijaw National Congress and other stakeholders had called on President Tinubu not to fold his hand over the crisis, which blew open on Monday.
