Idris Okuneye, the cross-dresser, popular as Bobrisky, and blogger, Martin Otse, popular as VeryDarkMan, VDM, would soon be guests of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The Commission is inviting both based on a serious allegation, purportedly made against it by Bobrisky, and publicised by Blogger VDM.

Bobrisky, who was arrested, prosecuted by the EFCC, and jailed by the Court for abuse of the Naira, the Nigerian Currency, had allegedly claimed, in a recorded-voice that he was not in prison custody but  kept in an apartment where he had everything at his beck and call. Worse, he allegedly claimed that he bribed some EFCC Officials to the tune of N15m to have a charge of money laundering against him dropped. These serious allegations, among others, were then given wings to fly by VDM.

Fela’s controversial Musician-son, Seun, has since disclosed that he was instrumental to VDM’s action. He said he was the one who told VDM to go to town with what Bobrisky allegedly said.

However, Bobrisky has denied making such wild claims. He said the voice was not his, but a faked voice. He said that he served his prison term and was released as soon as it was over.

But in the Voice-note made available on Instagram, the crossdresser was recorded during a telephone conversation, and allegedly said that a top officer of the Nigeria Correctional Centre facilitated the deal.

Popular Musician, Folarin Falana, known as Falz, was also indicted in the conversation between TheVeryDarkMan and Bobrisky, that the Son of the Human Rights and Constitutional Lawyer, Femi Falana, facilitated the early release of Bobrisky from prison.

Falz Father, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, was said to have made the necessary and right contacts to get him out early, alleging that the Senior Falana was paid N10 million for his efforts.

But lamented Bobrisky:

“My attention has been drawn to a fake voice recording circulating on the internet that I paid EFCC 15 million naira and that I was never in prison.”

“I didn’t pay any EFCC money; it is a very big lie. I served my term in full and I came out. Discard any false information.”

Bobrisky’s denial notwithstanding, an enraged EFCC Executive Chairman,  Olu Olukayode, has ordered

an immediate investigation into the bribery allegations levelled against his officers.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Spokesman of the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, said Olukoyede has constituted a team of investigators to look into the allegations.

The statement said: “Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede has ordered immediate investigation of alleged bribery allegations imputed to some officers of the Commission by Idris Okuneye (a.ka.Bobrisky) in a viral video circulating across the country.

“Okuneye, an ex-convict, had alleged in the video powered by Martins Vincent Otse (a.k.a VeryDarkMan) that some unnamed officers of the EFCC collected the sum of N15,000,000 (Fifteen Million Naira) only from him to drop money laundering charges against him.

“In a swift reaction, the EFCC boss has constituted a team of Investigators to critically look into the allegations. To this end, the Commission hereby invites both Okuneye and Otse to make themselves available at its Lagos Directorate to assist investigators unearth the alleged bribery.

“The EFCC wishes to assure the public that the allegations would be thoroughly investigated and the result of the findings made public accordingly.

“The Commission is committed to its core values of integrity, courage, professionalism and collaboration at all times.”
