Traders at Apongbon Market in Lagos never had the premonition that danger was lurking around the corner in the early hours of today, as they had gone to their respective shops for their daily business when the fire outbreak occurred.

The inferno gutted shops and vehicles under the Eko Bridge at Apongbon area of Lagos State, as traders and passerby scampered for safety.

It took the intervention of men of the Lagos Fire and Rescue Team to put out the raging fire.

Consequently, the bridge connecting Eko Bridge to the Island and Mainland was blocked and cordoned-off to prevent any possible loss of lives and further loss of properties.

Motorists were urged to use alternative routes to their respective destinations.

Sadly, the Eko bridge has been badly affected due to the intense impact of the inferno, prompting the Lagos State Ministry of Works and Ministry of Transportation to stop the movement of vehicles on the affected bridge.
