The news came as a shock to the football world and lovers of charismatic Argentine born coach, Mauricio Pochettino, when Daniel Levy, Tottenham Hotspurs Chairman, announced his sack.
Though Pochettino have had a turbulent season. His team, w was humiliated 7-2 by Bayern Munich Football Club at the UEFA Champions League, booted out of the Carabao Cup and, surprisingly dropped in the log standing to 14th position.
Poor results recorded in the cause of the season, and having lost the confidence of his players and his employers, were some reasons Levy said led to his sack.
The 47-year old former Argentine footballer has spent five years in charge of the North London club.
Pochettino was appointed in May 2014 and led Spurs to the Champions League final last season, where they lost to Liverpool.
According to Levy, “The 47-year-old has had a difficult start to the ongoing season with Spurs dwindling to the 14th place in the Premier League.
“We were extremely reluctant to make this change. It is not a decision the board has taken lightly, nor in haste. Regrettably, domestic results at the end of last season and the beginning of this season, have been extremely disappointing.”
