The Thomas Dennerby- coached Super Falcons have crashed out from the qualification series for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The Super Falcons were held to a 1-1 draw by the Elephant Ladies of Cote d’ Ivoire at the Agege Stadium in Lagos, Nigeria.

A week ago, the Super Falcons played a goalless draw against the Ivorians in Abidjan, in the first leg encounter of the series.

Nina Kpaho scored the opener for the visitor in the 12th minute to give them an away goal, before Barcelona Football Club striker, Asisat Oshoala equalised in the 34th minutes.

The Elephant Ladies kept their nerves after the equaliser, foiling the attack of the Super Eagles throughout the duration of the match to book a place in the next qualification series on away goals, after a 1-1 aggregate scoreline.

This ouster of the Super Falcons from the Olympic party means that the female National side has not qualified for the Olympics since their appearance at Beijing, China, in 2008.
