President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has no apology for the angry former Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El Rufai over his failure to make it to his cabinet as a minister.
El Rufai may have been seriously hurt over his big loss to make the president’s ministerial list, but Tinubu has no apology for him: move on with your life and stop crying over ‘split milk’ the former governor has been told by the nation’s Commander-in-Chief.
Tinubu’s message to the former governor was delivered by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga while speaking on the Arise Television programme on Tuesday.
El Rufai, the magazine reports has left no one in doubt that he’s very angry with President Tinubu following his failure to scale the Senate Ministerial screening hurdle in 2023. the former governor blamed the president for his predicament, and recently said Tinubu changed his mind after he promised to make him the ‘Minister of Power’ so that he could help the country to fight the ‘mafia’ in that sector.
For the betrayal, El Rufai has been punching Tinubu, left right and centre, and in fact has been hobnobbing with the opposition in his quest to stop the president’s re-election in 2027.
During his interview with Arise Television on Monday, El Rufai urged the southern part of Nigeria to vote out Tinubu to stop his humiliation in the next presidential election.
Tinubu however has one word for the former Kaduna helsman; he cannot bring down the ‘roof’ because he as was not made a minister.
According to the president “It’s natural’ for El Rufai “to feel hurt’ because he was not made a minisiter , the former governor should stop crying over split milk and move on with his life. cannot continue
Onanuga: “You cannot continue to behave like a child as if somebody stole your bread and things like that and then you’re crying over spilt milk?
He added, “It’s natural for him to feel hurt, excluded and I think that as the president acknowledged in a recent birthday tribute to him Nasiru actually helped a lot in installing President Tinubu and if he’s not there it doesn’t mean that he must bring down the roof.”
El Rufai was instrumental to the success of Tinubu in the 2023 Presidential election, but not long after the former political allies parted ways after the Senate refused to clear the former governor over security concerns.
